Yesterday, Education Secretary Patrick Tutwiler and Elizabeth Matos, Civil Rights Division Chief and Senior Advisor to the Attorney General of Massachusetts, joined The 9:30 Call to share information about federal immigration policies and the rights of families.
Videos of the call are available in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
The Department of Early Education and Care also shared this message:
“In response to concerns and questions regarding immigration enforcement, the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office has issued guidance for service providers about serving immigrant residents. All members of our community should feel encouraged to seek assistance and reassurance in times of need. The Attorney General’s guidance includes a broad overview of steps providers can take to prepare for potential encounters with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials and answer some questions people may have about the ability of immigrants to access financial or other government assistance because of their immigration status.
Read Attorney General’s guidance.
“The Attorney General’s Office is also working on specific guidance for early education and care and to offer guidance in additional languages. As we receive more resources we will make sure to share.”
