Check out this video on WWLP TV’s website about the Seven Hills Foundation, a human service agency in Massachusetts that helps families find child care.Â
The voideo features Kim Dion, assistant vice president at Seven Hills’ Child Care Resources program, and Marybeth Brown, the assistant program director.
Dion is a longtime 9:30 Caller, and Brown was a member of Strategies for Children’s Speakers’ Bureau.
In the video, Dion explains that at Seven Hills, “We serve families looking for financial assistance with child care and also help them to find the right program to send their children to.â€
Brown adds, “Particularly families who might be not income-eligible,†for subsidized child care, “but they’ve just learned that they are going to have a baby. They really need that education about what to expect in terms of cost, in terms of when to start the process of looking because it can be difficult in certain areas to find that [child care] opening.â€
The key goal, Dion and Brown say, is to educate families about their child care options, whether they have children with special needs or they need to understand more about the high standards that licensed providers meet.
Kudos to Dion and Brown for going on television to raise public awareness about child care issues.
